15 x 15

15 x 15 is a public celebration of textile art and entries are invited to submit works for this exhibition on the theme of “The Search for the Fabulous Idea”. There is one constraint: each piece must measure exactly 15cm by 15cm and, if three dimensional, be a maximum of 15cm deep.

Entries can be in any medium, process and/ or technique as long as a significant part of each entry is related to textiles in some way. There is a limit of three pieces per person and each work must be able to hang on a wall (fixings must be supplied). Pieces may be sold through the gallery – a commission will be added to the artist’s price.

To enter, download and complete the entry form and submit it with your work by the deadline of 19th February 2027. Full details and conditions are below.

The exhibition will take place in the Left Bank Art Gallery in Greymouth Māwhera on the West Coast/ Te Tai Poutini, South Island/ Te Waipounamu, Aotearoa New Zealand and coincide with the Costume and Textile Aotearoa New Zealand annual symposium: April 2nd to 4th 2027.

Full conditions of entry

1. Eligibility

The exhibition is open to all textile artists, makers and the general public.

There is no entry fee.

2. The work

Each work must measure:

15 cm × 15 cm

and may be no more than 15 cm deep at any point.

These dimensions refer to the complete work as it will be exhibited, including any integral mounting, frame or support.

No part of the finished work may extend beyond these dimensions.

3. Original work

Entries must be the artist’s or makers’ own work.

Collaborative works are permitted provided all contributing artists are identified on the entry form.

4. Number of entries

Each artist may submit up to three pieces.

5. Selection

All works meeting the conditions of entry will be exhibited, subject to available exhibition space.

6. Acceptance and Presentation

This is an open exhibition rather than a selected exhibition.

Works meeting the Conditions of Entry will be accepted for exhibition subject to the capacity of the exhibition space.

If the number of eligible entries exceeds the available exhibition space, The Textile Trust, Aotearoa reserves the right to limit the number of works displayed from each artist.

Works must arrive ready for display, complete with fixings already attached.

Any special hanging, mounting or installation requirements must be clearly described on the entry form.

The Textile Trust, Aotearoa reserves the right to determine the final placement and method of display of works within the exhibition.

The artist’s or makers’ name and the title of the work should be clearly marked on the reverse of the work wherever practicable.

7. Sale of works

Works may be offered for sale at the discretion of the maker or artist(s)

Where a work is offered for sale, the artist must state a price and a gallery commission will be added to it.

8. Delivery

Completed works must be received by 19th February 2027 and delivered to The Textile Trust, Aotearoa, 6 Mackay Street, Māwhera Greymouth 7805.

Makers are responsible for the cost and safe delivery of their work to the exhibition.

Works sent by post or courier should be securely packaged and clearly labelled 15 × 15 Exhibition.

9. Return of work

Artists are responsible for collecting their work, providing return packaging and postage or making prior alternative arrangements for return following the exhibition.

Works must be collected from the Textile Trust, Aotearoa, 6 Mackay Street, Māwhera Greymouth 7805 or will be returned by 16th April 2027

10. Care and insurance

Every reasonable care will be taken with submitted works.

Artists are responsible for arranging their own insurance for works in transit and during the exhibition.

The Textile Trust, Aotearoa cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage except where required by law.

11. Photography and publicity

By entering the exhibition, artists give The Textile Trust, Aotearoa permission to photograph their submitted work and to reproduce those photographs for purposes connected with the exhibition and the Trust’s activities, including its website, social media, publicity, archives and educational material.

Copyright in the artwork remains with the artist.

The artist will be credited wherever reasonably practicable.
